The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) Monday imposed a four-game suspension on Beijing Ducks head coach Xie Libin for his ill-advised behavior resulting in an interruption of the match between Beijing and the Shenzhen Aviators a day earlier.
Xie was also fined RMB 20,000 (around 3,090 US dollars). Zhai Xiaochuan, captain of Beijing, was fined RMB 30,000 (around 4,630 US dollars) for his inappropriate behavior in the incident.
In Sunday's game, Beijing's point guard Liu Xiaoyu was ruled to have committed an unsportsmanlike foul with 1.7 seconds left to play after referees reviewed the video replay, which triggered a strong protest from the Beijing team as the refereeing was decisive in the outcome of this match.
Zhai constantly questioned the refereeing afterward. Xie didn't stop his player's action but led some players to leave the court without the referees' permission, which interrupted the match.
Xie will miss out on matches from the 30th to 33rd rounds.
As Beijing team member intentionally kicked the court-side seats and the drinking machine inside the team's room suffered damage after the match, the league's governing body also imposed a fine of RMB 10,000 (around 1,540 US dollars) on the Beijing team and ordered the club to compensate for the drinking machine within a given time.
