The Beijing Royal Fighters made 16 3-pointers but could not stop the Sichuan Blue Whales from taking their game 97-93 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Tuesday.

For the Blue Whales, it was a sweet revenge for their 109-105 loss on December 25.

After a slow start, Sichuan led 46-42 into the second half. Beijing had a strong performance during the third quarter when they once overtook the lead by seven points, but it was Sichuan that made the quick recovery with a string of shots and tough defense en route to the eventual victory.

Zhang Fan scored a game-high 24 points for Beijing, teammate Joseph Young contributed 22 points with 10 rebounds and eight assists, while Andrew Harrison got 15 points.

As for Sichuan, center Hamed Haddadi hit double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds. Chen Chen pocketed a team-high 20 points and six rebounds, while Marcus Georges-Hunt continued 17 points and six rebounds.

"We learnt a lesson from the last game we lost and managed to reduce our errors during the game," said Sichuan head coach Zhou Jinli.
