The Beijing Ducks beat the Jilin Northeast Tigers 102-89 to keep their play-off hopes alive in the 44th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Thursday.

Earlier on the day, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers built an early lead to end their three-game losing streak, beating the Shanxi Loongs 119-88.

Beijing trailed 29-24 after the first quarter, but soon turned to efficient attacks to knock down 31 points in the second, leading 55-53 before the break.

Jilin was held to only 11 points in the third quarter as Beijing led as many as 77-62. Jilin narrowed the gap within 10 points a few times before the game ended, but key three-pointers from Zhu Yanxi and Fangshuo helped Beijing hold on to keep the advantage.

Justin Hamilton from Beijing led the game in 32 points and 13 rebounds.

"It was a good win against strong opponents," said Yannis Christopoulos, head coach of Beijing.

After a 26-19 lead, Xinjiang beat Shanxi 39-20 in the second quarter to lead 65-39 into the interval. The game ended early despite the leaders' losing 54-49 second half.

"In this game we found back our rhythm that we used to have in the first and second phase of the regular season," said Zeng Lingxu from Xinjiang at the post-game press conference, adding that he would lead his teammates to score more through fast breaks as the point guard of the team.

Ten players scored for Xinjiang with seven over 10 points, overcoming Jamaal Franklin's game-high 22 points. Zhou Qi, Donatas Motiejunas and Zeng Lingxu finished with double-double for Xinjiang.

In other games, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls moved past the Tianjin Pioneers 106-85, and the Shenzhen Aviators defeated the Nanjing Monkey Kings 127-86.

The 45th round of the CBA will kick off on Friday. The Zhejiang Lions and the Liaoning Flying Leopards, the Fujian Sturgeons and the Guangzhou Loong Lions, and the Qingdao Eagles and the Guangdong Southern Tigers are set to meet.
