China-based diplomats from 41 countries and three international organizations recently visited the venues for the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, Hebei province.

At the invitation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the diplomats visited the Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Village, the National Ski Jumping Center, the National Alpine Skiing Center, the National Speed Skating Oval, and the National Indoor Stadium. They also played curling at one of the venues during their visits.

Hosting a successful Winter Olympics and Paralympics is the solemn commitment by the Chinese government and Chinese people to the international community, said Cheng Guoping, external security commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, who accompanied the diplomats during their visits in Zhangjiakou.

He said the Winter Olympics also brings tangible benefits to the Chinese people with the development of new infrastructure and the winter sport industry.

During the visits, foreign diplomats praised China's preparations for the upcoming Winter Olympics and the country's efforts to promote socioeconomic development through the Games. They said they are ready to cooperate with China and create good conditions for their athletes to participate in the Games.

Since the start of this year, the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games have invited over 300 diplomats from 123 China-based embassies and 11 international organizations to visit these venues.
