On June 21, with the completion of the second phase of construction on the China National Convention Center (CNCC), including the turning on of the center's generator, the main media center of the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is now officially ready to broadcast the sporting events.

The main media center will open to the Organizing Committee of the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on July 4, serving the global media.

The main media center comprises two functional areas: the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) and the Main Press Center (MPC). The IBC will serve as the Olympic Broadcasting Company (OBS) headquarters and house all the Rights Holding Broadcasters. Therefore, completion of the power generation work for broadcasting is significant because broadcasting during the games will require a high level of power supply reliability.

Dong Xiaoguang, who is responsible for the power supply of the phase II CNCC, described how the 10 grey power distribution units that currently line the west side of the phase II CNCC will play a key role in ensuring the power supply for the main media center. According to Dong, the main media center is also equipped with an outdoor fuel generator and an indoor uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Together they will ensure a stable power supply for broadcasting during the events.

The total construction area of the phase II CNCC main venue is around 409,000 square meters and features three levels aboveground and two stories below. French architect Christian de Portzamparc designed the center. Upon completion, it will serve as an important location for international exchange activities and domestic diplomatic events in the capital.
