Kimmich extends stay at Bayern Munich to 2025

Joshua Kimmich has extended his contract ahead of schedule and penned a deal until June 2025, the German record champions confirmed in a statement via the club's official homepage on Monday.
Kimmich joined the Bavarians from league rivals Leipzig in 2015 and has scored 30 goals in 264 competitive games. After penning his new contract, he stays bound with Bayern until the summer of 2025.
"We are happy to be able to go into the future with Joshua Kimmich. He has developed into a top international player with us, and it is important to us to keep players with such qualities for the long term. With him, Bayern will have the best opportunities to achieve big and ambitious goals in the future," Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer said.
Despite being only 26 years old, Kimmich has already collected several titles with the German giants after clinching six Bundesliga titles, three German Cups, the Champions League trophies, five Supercups and the FIFA Club World Cup.
"Joshua totally identifies with FC Bayern. He has recognized the value of playing in a club for the long term and being able to help shape many things as well as being part of great successes and an era. He knows that he has the chance at Bayern to achieve all his ambitious goals," Bayern chairman Oliver Kahn said.
The versatile defensive midfielder is also part of Germany's national team where he made 59 international appearances and provided three goals.
"I have a team with which I can achieve anything, and many teammates have become real friends. I don't see myself at the end of my development yet and I am convinced that a lot is possible at Bayern in the next few years. In addition, Munich has become my second home," Kimmich added.
Kimmich can continue to work on his legacy at Bayern as Julian Nagelsmann's men face fifth division outfit Bremer SV at the closer of the first round in the German Cup on Wednesday before Bayern Munich clash with winless Hertha Berlin at the 3rd round in Bundesliga three days later.
