Organizers unveiled a torch design on Tuesday evening to mark the 300-day countdown to the 31st Summer World University Games at the Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum.
The torch, called "Rong Huo," meaning the "Chengdu Flame," is named after the host city's nickname "Rong," and can be interpreted as "harmony" in the local dialect.
The torch uses the four theme colors of the Games to reflect the event's "sustainable, smart, spirited and sharing" spirit.

It encapsulates Chinese style, Sichuan characteristics and international elements. The front of the torch features the globally-loved symbol of Sichuan - the Giant Panda - and embodies a culture of passion, optimism and inclusiveness. Meanwhile, the top of the torch features Chengdu's city logo and symbol of Chinese cultural heritage - the Golden Sun Bird - which seems to soar through the flames, representing an unwavering pursuit of the light.
On the reverse side of the torch, a bronze standing figure from the Sanxingdui Site is presented, which stands for the ancient Shu civilization in the Sichuan area. Holes in the shape of bamboo leaves on the upper part not only meet the flame's need for air, but also perfectly complement the giant panda design.
Xu Liaoyuan, the torch's designer, noted at the launch ceremony that many iconic elements of Sichuan culture, such as a panda and bamboo, have been integrated into the design. "The colorful torch also represents the vitality of university students. We hope that the elements can help the world learn more about Chengdu," he said.

The Chengdu Universiade's torch is not only well-designed, but also highlights production technology. Based on special engine technology from the aviation industry, the combustion plan will ensure effectiveness and cleanliness. In addition, the raw materials used in the torch are all recyclable.
Also unveiled at the launch ceremony were the torchbearers, uniforms of relay runners and escort vehicles.
