China's Olympic squad, bearing the name of the "United Team," beat Shanghai 1-0 to win the women's football tournament at the country's 14th National Games on Saturday evening.

Playing aggressively in the final, the United Team opened scoring after 24 minutes through Xiao Yuyi, who volleyed the ball spectacularly into the far corner of the net.

Xiao's strike ended up being the only goal of the game, as neither side scored in a second half played in heavy rain.

"The audience and the crowd at the National Games are incredible," said Shanghai's Zhao Lina, formerly a member of the national team, adding that she expects a good performance from China in next year's Asian Cup.

Also on Saturday, host Shaanxi beat Beijing 3-1 in the bronze medal match of the tournament, which also featured teams from Shandong, Liaoning, Jiangsu and Sichuan.
