The Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing will hold two test events for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games - figure skating and short-track speed skating test competitions - between Oct. 13-24.

The 2021 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy will take place from Oct. 13-16, marking the first appearance of the season for several skaters. The event also includes men's singles skating, women's singles skating, pair skating, and ice dance. A total of 32 athletes from nine countries and regions will participate in the competition, including 17 Chinese athletes.

Shortly after the Figure Skating Trophy ends, Capital Indoor Stadium will host the 2021/2022 Short Track Speed Skating World Cup from Oct. 21-24. As a qualifying event for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the event preparation completely adheres guidelines outlined for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. A total of 248 athletes (including substitutes) have so far registered for the event, including 16 Chinese athletes (including four substitutes).

Ren Lanli, deputy head of the Capital Indoor Stadium, said that the stadium was being renovated for short track speed skating and figure skating events during the Winter Games. The 2021 Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy will be the first international event since its renovation.

In addition, the Wukesong Ice Sports Center, the venue for the 2022 Winter Olympics ice hockey events, will host a domestic ice hockey test event, Nov. 7-10. As of Oct. 10, four Beijing men's ice hockey teams have been confirmed to participate in the event, including 88 athletes and 24 team officials. In addition, more than 30 technical officials and professionals from abroad are expected to participate in the event's organization.
