With the test events for Beijing 2022 underway, authorities and companies in Beijing and Hebei province have enhanced their cooperation to provide unified and high-standard communication services for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

To this end, Beijing and Hebei officials have recently carried out on-site inspections of communication facilities and exchanged ideas on establishing command systems and deploying supportive resources, especially under extreme weather conditions.

They vowed to improve supporting capacities for communication services, optimize overall planning, and expand cooperation in fields concerning joint contribution and shared benefits.

So far, all three competition venues in Beijing's Yanqing district, as well as eight of the 13 other Beijing venues, have realized full coverage of the 5G network.

As one of the supporting facilities built for the 2022 Winter Games, the Beijing section of the Beijing-Chongli Expressway has completed the construction and renovation of 48 5G macrocellular base stations. Another 147 such base stations have also been built along the Beijing section of the high-speed railway line, linking it and Zhangjiakou.

Starting this October, the two-month-long ice sports testing series will be held in six competition venues in Beijing and Yanqing.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also requires communication departments in Beijing and Hebei to provide sound services and ensure network security.

In accordance with the Beijing 2022 organizing committee's requirements of delivering a "simple, safe, and splendid" Winter Games, communication sectors are expected to further improve network coverage, strengthen emergency preparedness, and enhance data security protection, so as to ensure the safe and sound operation of networks during the games.
