Chinese Super League club Hebei FC will suspend four of its youth teams' training due to financial strains.

The Langfang-based club announced on Thursday that it will release the players of its U17, U16, U13 and U12 teams for holiday from next Wednesday in order to save money.

"Because of the difficulties known to the public, Hebei FC training base cannot pay electricity bills on time. In order to cut down the operation cost, the club decides to let the players of U17, U16, U13 and U12 teams take holidays from November 3rd," the club said in a statement.

On Monday Hebei FC issued a document saying its office operation would have to be ceased from Tuesday with its employees furloughed.

Unconfirmed reports have circulated saying that Hebei FC, which shelled out for Javier Mascherano and Ezequiel Lavezzi, was so cash-strapped that it could not even pay water and electricity bills.

Lang Zheng, an official of the club, suggested earlier this month that the CSL side was struggling with serious financial woes.

"We are facing tremendous difficulties," he said at the pre-match press conference of a first-round Chinese FA Cup tie between the Hebei side and Shaanxi Chang'an Athletic FC, a second-tier team, in Dalian.

"Our coaching staff paid some travel expense out of their own pockets to bring the team to Dalian," he said.

Hebei FC lost 1-0 in that game.

Hebei FC has been in dire financial straits and faces the danger of dissolving before this season ends, some Chinese media have reported.
