Zhejiang rally past Tianjin for 5th straight CBA win

CBA powerhouse the Zhejiang Lions took the top spot after an easy victory over the Tianjin Pioneers 104-81, while the Beijing Ducks was defeated by the Shenzhen Aviators 99-91 in the 2021-22 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season on Tuesday.

With key player Wu Qian absent, Zhejiang still showed a huge advantage over its opponent, successfully extending its winning streak to five games after the big win.

The first quarter was a seesaw battle. With a 10-0 scoring run in the middle, Tianjin led the quarter by three points, but failed to keep the advantage to the end of the first half as Zhejiang reversed the momentum led by Yu Jiahao who notched a game-high 23 points, plus 12 rebounds. Zhejiang led the half by three points.

In the third quarter, Zhu Xuhang entered his zone with hot shootings on the 3-point line and fierce attacks of the rim, which helped Zhejiang nail down the win with a 14-pont advantage in the single quarter.

Lin Tingqian scored a team-high 16 points for Tianjin, and his teammate Gu Zeyu contributed 11 points, while Zhejiang saw six players scoring in double digits.

In another matchup, Shenzhen led Beijing by 14 points at the end of the first quarter, and expanded the lead to 15 before the game entered the second half. Beijing strengthened their defense in the third quarter, winning by 11 points in the single quarter, but could not hold off He Xining from Shenzhen in the final time, thus suffering a two-game losing streak.

He notched a game-high 33 points for Shenzhen, and his teammates Gu Quan and Shen Zijie contributed 19 and 15 points respectively.

Also on Tuesday, the Shanxi Heroes won a landslide victory over the Jilin Northeast Tigers 119-91, the Liaoning Flying Leopards thrashed the Ningbo Rockets 99-70, the Jiangsu Dragons had a narrow win over the Sichuan Blue Whales 97-94, and the Guangzhou Loong Lions stormed the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 123-105.
