IOC praises China for delivering on promises for a carbon neutral Games
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) praised China for delivering on its promises for a carbon neutral Games by introducing renewable energies to Olympics venues and attracting some 300 million winter sports fans.
Juan Antonio Samaranch Salisachs, the Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission for Beijing 2022, told a digital press conference on Tuesday he was happy and proud to see that Beijing has dedicated so much attention to sustainability, delivering on its promise to host a carbon neutral Games.
Winter sports displays draw huge crowds at CIIE
The upcoming Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games have fueled interest in winter sports, as evidenced by the crowds browsing official merchandise and queuing up to try the alpine skiing simulators and artificial ice rink at the fourth China International Import Expo in Shanghai.
Olympic Village begins operation pressure test
The operation pressure test for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Village started on Wednesday this week.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Village will provide full-time service for athletes, coaches and officials during the Games, which will take place over 53 days in the three competition zones of Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou.
The Village will begin trial operations for the Olympics on Jan. 23 and officially open Jan. 27. It will close Feb. 23. The Village will then launch its trial operation for the Paralympics on Feb. 23, open Feb. 25, and close March 16.
