Beijing 2022 updates

1.China's Wu Dajing and Ren Ziwei won the titles in men's 500m and 1,500m events respectively during the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating series in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, on Saturday, putting their rivals on high alert ahead of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

2.Austria's Alessandro Haemmerle and Eva Samkova of the Czech Republic took the men's and women's titles respectively at the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup, also a Beijing 2022 test event, on Sunday. 

2021 Ballon d'Or award ceremony

The 2021 edition of the Ballon d'Or award ceremony will take place at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris on Monday, Nov. 29. 

The race to be crowned the best men's player of 2021 is between Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski, with Karim Benzema the third favorite.

Should Messi win, it will be his seventh Ballon d'Or trophy, pulling further away from Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently has five.

Liverpool vs. Everton-Merseyside derby

Liverpool goes into Wednesday's derby having won back-to-back Premier League games 4-0, seeing off Southampton on Saturday at Anfield with a commanding display.

Everton won at Anfield for the first time since 1999 last season, but hasn't won a Merseyside derby fixture at Goodison Park since October 2010.
