The National Ski Jumping Center in Zhangjiakou's Chongli district is all set to host two international test events this Saturday and Sunday - FIS Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Continental Cups.

The venue is nicknamed the Snow Ruyi for its resemblance to the shape of a "Ruyi," a traditional Chinese ornamental object for luck.

A total of 84 athletes from more than 10 countries including Austria, the Czech Republic, China, the U.S., and Japan will participate in the two events. Thanks to a well-designed operating system with specialized routes, athletes can travel back to the waiting sector after one round of game by cable cars in an efficient way.

The venue's operating team will consist of 785 people, including 416 under closed-loop management.

"The test events will allow us to examine all factors of the venue, such as venue facilities, venue operation system, COVID-19 countermeasures, events services, and so on," said Wang Bo, director of the National Ski Jumping Center.

Wang said the venue is attaching great importance to epidemic prevention and control measures, with anti-epidemic supplies available and contactless temperature measuring sites set in place. The four award ceremonies of the events will be held in a contactless way.

As the largest ski jumping venue in the world, the Snow Ruyi comprises two ski slopes, the big track with a drop of 136.2 meters and the standard track with a drop of 114.7 meters. Eight events from two disciplines of ski jumping and Nordic combined will be held, and five gold medals will be awarded during the 2022 Winter Olympics.
