1. Beijing 2022 releases second edition of Playbook
With less than two months to go before the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games gets underway, the organizing committee, together with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), published the second edition of the Playbook outlining COVID-19 countermeasures during the events.
Like the first edition, the Playbook offers distinct versions for athletes and team officials, as well as other stakeholders, including the Olympic and Paralympic Family, press and broadcasters, International Federations (IFs) and the general workforce.
2. Snowmaking starts at Shougang Big Air
The ski jumping platform Shougang Big Air, the only snow event venue in the city of Beijing for the 2022 Winter Olympics, began its artificial snowmaking process on Dec. 12 in Shijingshan District, signaling a first glimpse of the freestyle skiing and snowboard big air events for the Winter Games.

3. All-factor tests conducted at Yanqing Olympic Village
More than 70 all-factor tests were carried out at the Beijing 2022 Yanqing Olympic and Paralympic Village on Dec. 11 and 12, with about 1,460 participants involved in testing the accommodation, catering and medical services.
The Village will start full-time trial operations for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on Jan. 23, and run for 53 days until its official close on March 16. The organizers plan to resolve any issues that emerge in the roughly 40 days preceding the events to further improve the athlete-centered services.
