Dalian Pro players, staff fined for insulting referee

Two players and six officials from Dalian Pro FC have been banned and fined for insulting a referee during a Chinese Super League (CSL) game on Saturday, the Chinese Football Association said on Tuesday.

Zheng Long was slapped with a six-game ban and a fine of 60,000 RMB (9,400 U.S. dollars), while his teammate Yang Haoyu was suspended for 12 months and fined 200,000 RMB (31,400 U.S. dollars).

Dalian Pro officials Wang Zhong, Liu Peng, Jiang Zongyan, Fan Hongji and Xu Fei also received bans of between five and eight games with fines ranging from 50,000 RMB (7,900 U.S. dollars) to 80,000 RMB (12,600 U.S. dollars).

Dalian Pro was also fined 200,000 RMB and criticized in a circulated notice.

In the 90th minute of the game against Chengdu Better City on Saturday, Zheng rushed onto the pitch and verbally abused the referee. Two minutes later, Liu also abused the referee and received a red card, after which he continued to curse at the referee.

After the game, Gao, Wang, Jiang, Fan, and Xu surrounded and cursed at the referee, with Yang rushing to the referee and punching him in the face, according to the statement.
