Both AC Milan and Juventus barely created genuine chances on Sunday as they played out a goalless tie at San Siro, which pleased neither side.

Both sides were in a dire need of the victory, as AC Milan had to follow Inter Milan's pace in the race for the Scudetto while Juve was raring to move to the top-four.

It was an end-to-end tedious fixture, Juve even failed to manage one attempt on target, while Milan at least forced Wojciech Szczesny to make several saves but lost hitman Zlatan Ibrahimovic to injury.

The stalemate, coupled with Napoli's 4-1 win over Salernitana, dropped Milan to the third place on inferior goal difference, while Juve still ranks fifth with 42 points, one point behind Atalanta who has a game in hand.

Elsewhere, Roma almost got the job done in the first half, as the Giallorossi ran riots to score four goals in a span of 12 minutes with Tammy Abraham's double on top of Sergio Oliveira and Nicolo Zaniolo's goals.

Despite two goals conceded after the break, it was still enough for Roma to seal the win.

Also on Sunday, Spezia edged past Sampdoria 1-0, Sassuolo tied with Torino 1-1, while Cagliari also shared the spoils with Fiorentina at 1-1.
