Premier League strugglers Watford on Monday sacked Claudio Ranieri as first-team coach just three months after he was named as the replacement for Xisco Munoz.

The Italian lost his job in the wake of Friday's 3-0 at home to Norwich that leaves the club 19th in the Premier League, while Ranieri suffered defeats in 11 of his 14 games in charge, winning just twice.

Watford are without a win in their last nine games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 30 Premier League matches.

In a communique explaining Ranieri's departure, the club said they recognized Ranieri as "a man of great integrity and honor, who will always be respected here at Vicarage Road for his efforts in leading the team with dignity."

However, the club added that "a change in the head coach position now will give a new appointment sufficient time to work with a talented squad to achieve the immediate goal of retaining Premier League status."

Watford are now looking for their 10th new coach in the last five years ahead of their next match, which is away to Burnley on February 5th.
