The Main Media Center (MMC) for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing officially entered 24-hour operation on Jan. 24, providing accurate and high-quality services for journalists from around the world.

The opening was announced during a press conference on Monday by Xu Jicheng, director general of the Media Operations Department of the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

According to Xu, the work of journalists during the Winter Olympic Games will have three main purposes. These include connecting the world through hard work so that everyone can participate in the Games, adhering to Olympic principles when spreading the Olympic spirit so as to convey lofty ideals and hopes, and uniting humanity while encouraging the younger generation to build a better world.

Xu called on journalists to follow the requirements of Beijing 2022 and carry out the "most suitable and professional" reporting work. He believed that media operations during the Games must follow international standards and be supported by professional services and information technologies.

Xu, also a participant in the organizing work for the Beijing 2008 Summer Games, said that the media sector for the upcoming Games has applied new visions and technologies and will see new achievements. According to him, photojournalists during the Games will be able to instantly share their work with the rest of the world using cutting-edge internet technologies. The brand-new reporting work will also bring the Olympics to a wider range of audiences, Xu said.
