President Xi meets IOC chief

On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping told visiting International Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Thomas Bach that China will deliver a simple, safe and splendid Winter Olympics.

Xi met Bach, president of the IOC, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, 10 days before the official opening of the Games on Feb. 4.

'Ice Ribbon' tracks ready

On Monday, the National Speed Skating Oval - also known as the "Ice Ribbon" - completed its ice-making work for the Beijing Winter Olympics speed skating tracks.

The ice production was an international effort by Canadian ice technician Mark Peter Messer, the ice-making team of the National Speed Skating Oval, and teams from Harbin and Changchun.

MMC officially begins 24-hour operations

The Main Media Center (MMC) for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing officially entered 24-hour operations on Jan. 24, providing accurate and high-quality services for journalists worldwide.
