Xi declares open 24th Olympic Winter Games of Beijing

President Xi Jinping declared the 24th Olympic Winter Games open at the National Stadium in Beijing on the night of Feb 4.

Chinese short track speed skaters win the country's first gold

On Saturday, China claimed its first gold at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games in the 2,000m mixed team relay of short track speed skating.

The Chinese quartet of Fan Kexin, Qu Chunyu, Ren Ziwei, and Wu Dajing timed in 2 minutes and 37.348 seconds to win the event, which debuted at the Games. Italy took the silver, and Hungary bagged the bronze.

Mascot's positive energy appeal makes it a hit

Beijing Winter Olympics organizers will increase product offerings featuring the mascot Bing Dwen Dwen, a spokesman said on Sunday in response to the rising popularity of the mascot and a recent shortage of stock.
