The National Aquatics Center, the venue for the wheelchair curling competitions of the Beijing 2022 Paralympics, has been renovated to ensure barrier-free operations during the Games.

On the eastern side of the venue, also known as the "Ice Cube," a wheelchair accessible ramp with a total length of 80 meters and a width of more than two wheelchairs has been established. The ramp will be officially put into use after the opening ceremony of the Games on Friday.

In a bid to facilitate the media, the organizing committee has also set up accessible ramps at the media stand, adjusted the heights of microphones and camera stands, and replaced separation boards with concierge railing isolation belts.

Additionally, more than a dozen barrier-free toilets and angled dressing mirrors have been put in place.

At the rest area, specially-designed cable cars will cater to the needs of athletes with lower limb deficiencies.

Delegations from various countries and regions have been coming to the Ice Cube for training since Thursday. The newly-renovated venue will hold the first curling completion of the Beijing 2022 Paralympics on Saturday.
