Matheus Jussa scored an own goal as Corinthians rose to the top of the Brazilian Serie A standings on Sunday with a 1-0 home win over Fortaleza.
The central defender gifted the hosts the lead just after halftime by heading the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a Maycon cross.
The result leaves Corinthians with nine points from four matches, one point ahead of second-placed Bragantino. Fortaleza are last in the 20-team standings, having yet to pick up a point.
In Rio de Janeiro, Diego Goncalves converted a late penalty as Botafogo earned a 1-1 home draw with Juventude.
Isidro Pitta had given the visitors the lead with a 64th-minute strike before Goncalves held his nerve from the spot seven minutes from time following a Paulo Miranda hand ball.
Botafogo are now 12th in the standings with five points, three points ahead of Juventude.
In other Brazilian Serie A fixtures on Sunday, Coritiba won 3-2 at home to Fluminense and Avai drew 0-0 at Internacional.
