The Golden State Warriors outscored the Boston Celtics 35-14 in the third quarter to move Game 2 of the NBA Finals into garbage time early in the fourth, as the Warriors tied the series 1-1 with a 107-88 home victory on Sunday.

Boston handed Golden State their first playoff home loss of the season in Game 1 with Al Horford's masterpiece in his NBA Finals debut after playing an NBA-record 141 career playoff games.

With Gary Payton II returning from a fractured elbow he suffered in Game 2 of the second round against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Warriors got off to a better defense Sunday night. The two teams exchanged the lead eight times in a tight first half as the Warriors led 52-50 at halftime, despite only hitting six out of 16 from long range.

Things went the Golden State way in the third quarter as they knocked down seven 3-pointers, including a half-court buzz-beater from Jordan Poole, to smash Boston with 13-2, 11-0 and 8-0 runs.

With the Celtics unable to see a route to victory they brought off key players with more than 10 minutes to play, failing to take the series home with a 2-0 advantage.

Stephen Curry scored a game-high 29 points and with four assists. Curry passed Gary Payton, who had 811 assists, for 28th on the all-time playoff assists at 812, while Draymond Green is ranked 24th with 860.

Jayson Tatum led Boston with 28 points and six rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 17. Horford, who was the hero of Boston's Game 1 victory with 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting, only had two points and eight rebounds tonight.

Game 3 will take place on Wednesday at Boston's TD Garden.
