Former U.S. Open champion Marin Cilic reached the quarterfinals at the Queen's Club after beating Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan 7-6(6), 7-5 on Wednesday.
Cilic, 33, entered the grass-court tournament as the seventh seed and has passed the opening round by defeating British wild card Liam Broady on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the Croatian ace overcame a 0-5 deficit in the tiebreak of the first set before winning five points in a roll from 3-6. He took a 3-0 lead in the second set and hold off an unpredictable Bublik in 7-5.
Cilic, who reached the French Open semifinals for the first time earlier this year, is going to face Emil Ruusuvuori as the 23-year-old Finn outplayed home hopeful Jack Draper 6-2, 7-6(2).
Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov lost to Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6(5), 6-3. The Dutch will fight for a semifinal berth against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain.
