Newly-promoted Wuhan Three Towns claimed a 2-1 win over Shanghai Port FC, while Guangzhou beat Hebei 1-0 in the 2022 Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday.

Brazilian forward Marco broke the deadlock for Three Towns in the 9th minute, who smashed the ball home with his head. 14 minutes later, Ren Hang doubled Three Towns' lead with a header from Nicolae Stanciu's free-kick.

Shanghai Port pulled a goal back in the 56th minute, when Pape Ndiaye headed the ball into the net after Feng Jin's cross from the right.

Despite Shanghai Port's best efforts to equalize, Three Towns held on to seal their fourth win in five CSL games this season.

After the match, Three Towns head coach Pedro Pineda spoke highly of his team's performance, but said it was too early to talk about the title.

With the win, Three Towns sit top of the CSL, with four wins and one draw from the season's first five matches.

In the day's other match, Guangzhou defeated Hebei 1-0 to end their goal and win drought after four consecutive defeats, with each team having a man sent off. Hebei suffered their fifth consecutive loss.
