The First Beijing Animation Festival (BJAF), in celebration of the 100th anniversary of China's animation industry, kicked off at Beijing Science Center on Thursday. The event covers eight subjects and over 40 activities, aiming to promote the high-quality development of China's animation sector.
Twenty animated films were selected to display at the opening ceremony, reflecting the highest standards and innovative concepts of China's animation industry. The films cover a variety of topics including China's revolution history and modern life. The screenings began in mid-July and will last for a month.
On Thursday, a forum was held on the history and prospects of Chinese animation. Five sub-forums will be held in the next six days, focusing on the production, science and technology, industry, investment, and internationalization of China's animation sector.
Additionally, five themed film exhibitions are being staged at the BJAF. As the main exhibition, China Animation Centennial Development Exhibition aims to fully demonstrate the history of China's animation industry and provide a full account of achievements made by Chinese animators, especially in the past decade.
The five themed exhibitions will last through Aug. 9.
