LeBron James reached a two-year, 97.1-million-U.S. dollar contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN reported on Wednesday, citing James' agent and Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul.

The extension includes a player option for the 2024-25 season and a 15 percent trade kicker, making James the highest-earning player in NBA history with 532 million U.S. dollars in career guaranteed money.

James has entered the final season of his contract worth 44.5 million U.S. dollars.

Drafted in 2003, James is a four-time NBA champion and MVP, and an 18-time All-Star.

He averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists in the 2021-22 regular season, playing 56 games as the Lakers failed to reach the playoffs.
