Chinese young talents Wu Yize and Si Jiahui didn't make it past the quarterfinals, while Zhou Yuelong and Yan Bingtao lost the matches in the round of 16 at the European Masters on Friday in Furth, Germany.

18-year-old Wu claimed the victory against Welsh pro Ryan Day 5-2 in the round of 16 but lost to Ali Carter of England 5-3 in the quarterfinals.

Si, 20, edged past Welsh amateur player Daniel Wells 5-4 before he was outplayed by world No. 8 Kyren Wilson of England 5-2 in the final eight.

Yan and Zhou couldn't pass through two Welsh players as Jamie Jones knocked down world No. 15 Yan 5-3, while world No. 7 Mark Williams swept past Zhou 5-0 in the round of 16.

Left-handed Williams defeated his compatriot Jones 5-1 in the quarterfinal to set up the semifinal showdown against Barry Hawkins who kicked out tournament favorite Judd Trump in the quarters.

Hawkins, who beat Aaron Hill, Stuart Carrington and Robert Milkins on his way to the quarterfinals, produced a golden performance to beat Judd Trump 5-3. The other semifinal will take place between Wilson and Carter on Saturday.
