Serbia's men's basketball team defeated Greece 100-94 on Thursday in a World Cup qualifier after an overtime thriller marked by a clash of NBA stars Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The home team built an early lead thanks to 3-pointers by Vasilije Micic and protected it for most of the match - despite a very powerful performance of Giannis Antetokounmpo who kept the Greek team in the game, and Micic's ankle injury.
Starting the second half with a 7-point-advantage (51-44), the Serbian team managed to expand it to double digits at 60-50 thanks to Jokic's scoring streak.
However, Antetokounmpo's own scoring streak melted the Serbian lead in the final minutes of the fourth quarter - only to secure overtime in which Serbia triumphed.
Jokic was the most efficient with 29 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while Antetokounmpo scored 40 points for Greece, along with eight rebounds and five assists.
With its second victory in Group I, Serbia maintained the possibility of ending up among the top three and qualifying for the World Cup next year, while Greece remained second with three wins and two defeats.
