Guinean striker Jose Kante scored four goals as Cangzhou Mighty Lions edged out top-ranked Wuhan Three Towns 4-3 to end the latter's 17-game unbeaten streak in the Chinese Super League (CSL) here on Saturday.

Before the game, Cangzhou was just above the relegation zone with 12 points from 16 games, while Wuhan Three Towns stood atop the league with 47 points.

In the 17th minute, assisted by Dutch Deabeas Owusu, Kante volleyed home for his maiden goal in the CSL since joining from Kazakhstan club Kairat Almaty in late August.

Wuhan Three Towns, who were without the services of several key players due to fatigue and injuries, equalized in the 33rd minute through Brazilian forward Davidson's penalty kick, only to see Kante beat the goalkeeper to slot home just three minutes later.

Cangzhou further extended its lead three minutes into the second half, as Li Hong sent a long pass from inside his own half and Kante was on target again with a powerful volley.

In the 69th minute, Davidson scored his second goal with another penalty kick to cut the deficit to 3-2. Fourteen minutes later, Zhang Xiaobin bypassed two defenders to level the score at 3-3 for Wuhan Three Towns.

As the game looked set for a draw, Kante struck his fourth goal in stoppage time to secure a hard-earned victory for Cangzhou.

"It was amazing. I think it's one of the best games I've played," said Kante after the victory, adding that what matters the most was not his four goals but the three points for the team.

Also on Saturday, defending champion Shandong Taishan cruised past Shenzhen FC 4-0 to go four points behind Wuhan Three Towns in the standings. Elsewhere, Changchun Yatai defeated Wuhan Yangtze River 2-0, and Dalian Pro held Beijing Guoan to a 2-2 tie.
