Winter Olympic venues in Beijing experienced a rise in popularity during this year's weeklong National Day holiday as many citizens chose to try their hands at ice skating and other winter sports activities.

The National Speed Skating Oval, the National Aquatics Center and the Huaxi Live Ice Center were among the most popular destinations for fans of winter sports during the holiday.

Known as the "Ice Ribbon," the National Speed Skating Oval features an 1,800-square-meter standard ice rink inside its 400-meter speed skating track, and has introduced public training lessons covering speed skating and figure skating.

To ensure visitors had a safe and orderly skating experience during the holiday, the National Aquatics Center' ice sports arena refurbished its ice rink and carried out routine disinfection and maintenance activities on its protective gear and skates. The venue also introduced ice skating classes for beginners aged 4-12 years old.

In addition, the Huaxi Live Ice Center, which served as a training venue for ice hockey players during Beijing 2022, has enjoyed a boom in visitors among skating enthusiasts, and has also opened its physical training facilities to the public. The center saw 600 visits per day on average during the first four days of the National Day holiday.
