China has won five gold medals so far in the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition, a replacement for the canceled WorldSkills Shanghai 2022.

The Shanghai event was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

On Monday, Chinese competitors Wu Hongyu and Zhou Chujie won the nation's fourth and fifth golds in the events of CNC Turning and CNC Milling, respectively, in Germany, one of 15 countries and regions organizing and hosting the competitions.

On Saturday, Li Dexin won the nation's first gold medal in this special edition competition in the event of Cabinetmaking in Switzerland. It was also the first time a competitor from China won gold in this event since joining it in 2017.

On June 1, organizers of WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 announced the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak in the city at that time.

Later that month, WorldSkills decided that a special edition of 62 competitive events will be held in 15 countries and regions in Asia, Europe and Africa from the middle of September to late November.
