Chinese international Wu Lei, who recovered from a rib injury, scored a hat-trick in Shanghai Port's 7-0 thrashing of Meizhou Hakka in the Chinese Super League on Monday.

It took Wu less than five minutes to put Shanghai Port ahead, after the Chinese star striker collected a pass from Matias Vargas.

In the 26th minute, Wu finished an outstanding solo show in the box after breaking through Meizhou's defense, scoring his fourth goal since he returned to Shanghai Port from Spanish La Liga side Espanyol in the summer.

Jiang Guangtai silenced Meizhou fans completely in the 35th minute after sweeping a low shot into the net from close range to make it 3-0.

Wu netted his third goal of the match in the 55th minute, beating Meizhou goalkeeper Hou Yu in a one-on-one situation.

Before the final whistle, Paulinho added the fifth and 19-year-old Liu Baiyang scored twice, helping Shanghai Port finish the thriller without any reply from their rivals.

Shanghai Port climbs to third place after the win, 10 points away from the league leader Wuhan Three Towns.

Also on Monday, Henan Songshan Longmen won over Cangzhou Mighty Lions 3-0.

Guido Carrillo converted the penalty with a low shot to the center for his first league goal in the 10th minute.

In the 40th minute, Adrian's close-range shot found the woodwork and Tomas Pina doubled Henan's lead through a follow shot.

Jose Kante of Cangzhou almost pulled one back in the 78th minute, but his powerful long shot went wide.

Before the final whistle, Fernando Karanga enlarged Henan's advantage to three in a counter attack, throwing his rivals into the first defeat in six games.

Elsewhere, Chengdu Rongcheng held Zhejiang FC to 1-1, Changchun Yatai lost to Beijing Guoan 1-0, Shandong Taishan smashed Guangzhou FC 3-0, Tianjin Jinmen Tiger beat Wuhan Yangtze River 3-1 and Shenzhen FC edged Hebei FC 2-1.
