FC Barcelona defender Sergi Roberto will be out of action for a month after dislocating his left shoulder on Sunday night.

The right back fell badly in the closing minutes of his side's 4-0 win at home over Athletic Club Bilbao, and had to be taken off the pitch in a stretcher in obvious pain.

Tests on Monday have confirmed the extent of the injury, which means Roberto will miss at least five games, namely Champions League matches against Bayern Munich and Viktoria Plzen and La Liga clashes with Valencia, Almeria and Osasuna.

He joins fellow defenders Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo, as well as forward Memphis Depay on Barca's injury list, but the good news for coach Xavi Hernandez is that Hector Bellerin is available after missing the past three weeks with a thigh injury.

The injury is a blow to Roberto, who scored Barca's second goal on Sunday and had been playing regularly after struggling with a bad muscle problem last season.

There is still no news on the fitness of Barca's teenage midfielder Gavi, who limped out of the first half of Sunday's win. Coach Xavi commented after the game that he didn't think it was serious, but in the best-case scenario, the 18-year-old is likely to miss Wednesday's Champions League game at home against Bayern Munich.
