The Zhejiang Lions beat the Sichuan Blue Whales 85-75 while the Guangdong Southern Tigers smashed the Ningbo Rockets 120-90 in the seventh round of the 2022-2023 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Wednesday.

It was the sixth straight loss for Sichuan in the season, while Ningbo remained winless after seven rounds into the season.

After a 16-16 first quarter, Zhejiang opened the second quarter with a 5-0 run and made another 7-0 scoring streak three minutes later thanks to brilliant assists from star guard Sun Minghui. Sichuan, on the other hand, continued to struggle for the baskets, trailing by 43-32 into the second half.

Sun went on with his passing show after the interval and Kyle Wiltjer was hot beyond the arc, helping Zhejiang establish a 48-32 lead early in the third quarter. However, frequent errors later on saw their advantage cut by half before the late 12 minutes, where they denied Sichuan's comeback efforts with a solid defense.

Wiltjer got the game's highest 27 points, plus 10 rebounds. Sun added 13 points and a remarkable 13 assists. Sichuan's Hasheem Thabeet contributed a team-high 15 points.

Thus, Zhejiang climbed to the eighth place on the 20-team table, while Sichuan stayed in the 17th on a six-game losing streak.

Also on Wednesday, Guangdong had an easy victory over Ningbo. A big second quarter saw Guangdong enjoy a 13-point advantage at 67-54, before expanding it further without any suspension.

Guangdong's Marshon Brooks had a game-high 30 points, and five of his teammates also pocketed double-digit scores. Ningbo's Marko Todorovic got a team-best 19 points.
