Filip Kostic was decisive on Sunday as he delivered two assists to help Juventus see off Inter Milan 2-0 at Allianz Stadium in a highly-anticipated Derby d'Italia.

Juve entered Sunday's game without Dusan Vlahovic, Leandro Paredes and Weston McKennie, but had Angel di Maria and Gleison Bremer back into the squad, while Romelu Lukaku and Danilo D'Ambrosio didn't make the trip with Inter.

The Nerazzurri were more aggressive in the first half, earning a couple of chances in the opening minutes.

Denzel Dumfries' strike in the 33rd minute was too weak to surprise Juve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, and then the full-back fumbled a promising chance as the Dutchman fired a blank from close range.

Hakan Calhanoglu was closer to breaking the deadlock straight after the break as his missile was fingertipped onto the crossbar.

However, it was the home side that went ahead through a counterattack in the 51st minute, when Kostic sprinted down the left for Adrien Rabiot to turn it in.

Juve thought they had doubled the lead in the 65th minute when Danilo met Kostic's corner to volley in. The goal was then disallowed by VAR as it had struck Danilo's hand in the process, but this sparked controversy as Stefan De Vrij had been dragging the Brazilian's arm.

Kostic kept wreaking havoc as his drilled shot smacked the upright in the 76th minute, before the Serbian rolled across for the unmarked Nicolo Fagioli to seal the game.

Juve's fourth consecutive win in Serie A sees them move up to fifth with 25 points, while Inter drop to seventh.

In an earlier eye-catching fixture, Lazio sailed away with a 1-0 victory over city rivals Roma. The sole goal came in the 28th minute when Roger Ibanez was caught napping in his own box, allowing Felipe Anderson to collect the loose ball and slot home.

The win saw Lazio leapfrog the Giallorossi into third place, while Roma sit sixth.

Elsewhere, Bologna edged past Torino 2-1, Fiorentina won 2-0 at Sampdoria, and Monza beat Hellas Verona 2-0.
