Second phase underway in Chinese Men's Volleyball Super League

The second phase of the 2022-2023 Chinese Men's Volleyball Super League started on Monday with the top eight teams competing for semifinal berths.

Zhejiang recovered from one set down to defeat Sichuan 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-18), with spiker Wang Bin contributing a game-high 22 points for Zhejiang.

Defending champions Beijing smashed Nanjing 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-16). Beijing's Hernandez Yosvany top scored with 22 points.

Other games saw Shanghai defeat Tianjin 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-23), and Shandong survive a five-set thriller to overcome Baoding 3-2 (23-25, 30-28, 23-25, 25-19, 15-13).

The quarterfinals use a best-of-three format, and top four finishers in Group G and H face off each other in reverse order.

Zhejiang, who topped Group G, takes on Group H fourth-placed Sichuan. Baoding (second ranked in Group G) faces Shandong (third placed in Group H), Group G third-ranked Shanghai squares off against Group H second-ranked Tianjin, and Nanjing (fourth ranked in Group G) and Group H top finisher Beijing contend for a final four spot.
