Groenewoud wins women's 1,500m at ISU Speed Skating World Cup

Dutch skater Marijke Groenewoud, a Beijing 2022 Olympic bronze medalist, won the women's 1,500m at the International Skating Union (ISU) Speed Skating World Cup in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland on Saturday.

Groenewoud timed one minute and 56.67 seconds, 1.16 seconds faster than runner-up Ragne Wiklund of Norway. Japanese Miho Takagi finished third in 1:58.02.

Chinese skater Li Qishi finished eighth in 2:00.46, followed by her compatriot Han Mei in 2:00.65.

Japan's Wataru Morishige clinched the men's 500m title in 34.78 seconds, followed by Canadian Laurent Dubreuil (34.87) and Japan's Yuma Murakami (35.03).

Italy's Davide Ghiotto took the men's 5,000m crown in 6:17.45. Four-time Olympic medalist Patrick Roest of the Netherlands got the silver in 6:18.27, and Sander Eitrem from Norway pocketed the bronze in 6:18.45.

Canada won the women's team pursuit in 3:00.97, followed by the Netherlands (3:01.74) and the United States (3:04.01). China (Han Mei, Li Qishi, Yang Binyu and Chen Xiangyu) finished eighth.
