Jilin's Dominique Jones set an all-time assist record of 2,596, but the Jilin Northern Tigers were still trounced by the Shenzhen Aviators in a 136-97 road loss in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Sunday.

Jones surpassed the league's previous record that belonged to Hu Xuefeng of Jiangsu, after he finished with 11 points and 11 assists against Shenzhen.

It was Shenzhen, however, who controled the game from start to finish. The Aviators settled the game right from the start by building a 19-0 lead less than five minutes after tip off. The hosts led by as many as 39 points and took away an easy win in front of their home fans.

Elsewhere, the Shanghai Sharks cruised past the Beijing Ducks 94-68 with a decisive 28-9 second quarter. The Sharks forced their opponents into 20 turnovers and confined the Ducks to 6 out of 34 from downtown, putting an end to their three-game losing streak.

Wang Zhelin had a double-double with 22 points and 19 rebounds for Shanghai.

The Fujian Sturgeons pulled off a 97-85 victory over the Ningbo Rockets after a back-and-forth clash. Fujian only led 75-73 after the third quarter, but Chen Linjian and Darius Adams combined to score big in the final quarter, sealing the victory for Fujian.

In other games, the Zhejiang Golden Bulls beat the Shanxi Loongs 115-103, and the Shandong Heroes defeated the Sichuan Blue Whales 115-86.
