The two Milanese clubs wrapped up crucial Serie A fixtures for the Champions League spots with victories on Saturday, as AC Milan saw off Lazio 2-0 at San Siro, while Inter Milan sailed away with a 2-0 win over Roma.

The Rossoneri were in dire need of a rebound after back-to-back ties and they got the job done in the first half as they broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Lazio's poor passing allowed Olivier Giroud to assist for Ismael Bennacer to drill home.

Theo Hernandez added another goal minutes later in a spectacular way when the Spaniard turned on the afterburner to start the move from his own half, dribbling forward and riding tackles before unleashing a blockbuster into the net.

Inter Milan registered their fourth straight win in the league as they unlocked Roma's defense with the combination of two full-backs in the 33rd minute when Denzel Dumfries rolled across for Federico Dimarco to tap in at the back post before Lautaro Martinez won back possession to send Romelu Lukaku clear to seal the win in the 73rd minute.

With the win, Inter Milan climbed to third with 63 points, two points ahead of fifth-placed AC Milan, Lazio still place second while Roma were seventh.

Elsewhere, Cremonese notched up an important win in a relegation battle as they dominated Spezia 2-0.
