CSCLF promotes physical education with new basketball court

The "Yi Jianlian Basketball Court," named in honor of the renowned basketball player Yi Jianlian, was unveiled at Shijiyuan Primary School in Guiyang on May 22. This facility was made possible through the generous donations of the Yi Jianlian Basketball Development Fund of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and Tora Motor Group.
With a steadfast commitment to the growth and well-being of the youth, the CSCLF has consistently advocated for the development of their physical strength and character through sports. The creation of the Yi Jianlian Basketball Court, a remarkable project that focuses on constructing basketball courts for young people, not only brings immense joy but also offers valuable opportunities for aspiring basketball players. This initiative perfectly aligns with the CSCLF's mission to promote physical education and empower young people.
During the opening ceremony, Liu Ying, deputy director of the Fund Department of the CSCLF, Yi Jianlian, esteemed basketball player and council member of the CSCLF, Zang Kan, president of Toro Motor Group, Wang Qian, deputy secretary of the CPC Yunyan District Committee and district head of Yunyan district, Guiyang city, Guizhou province, and Zhu Baolin, secretary-general of Guizhou Provincial Basketball Association, gathered alongside more than 100 of local teachers and students.
In Oct. 2011, the CSCLF joined forces with basketball player Yi Jianlian to establish the Yi Jianlian Basketball Development Fund. Under the umbrella of this fund, two flagship projects, namely the Yi Camp and the Yi Jianlian Basketball Court, have been launched. These initiatives focus on organizing training camps and facilitating the construction of basketball courts in various communities. By providing the necessary facilities and educational support, they aim to empower young individuals to pursue their passion and unlock their potential.
Since 2022, the Tora Motor Group has made significant contributions to the Yi Jianlian Basketball Development Fund. Its donation of 3 million yuan has been dedicated to the construction and renovation of basketball courts and stadiums in primary and secondary schools. As a result of this partnership, four Yi Jianlian Basketball Courts have been successfully built in Guizhou province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
