Ernest Raden has been appointed head coach of the Beijing Ducks and will lead the team in the 2023-24 season of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league scheduled to start in October this year, announced the Beijing Ducks on Friday.

Arrived in China for the first time in 2011, the Serbian joined the Beijing Ducks as an assistant coach in August 2022 before acting as interim head coach in March 2023, taking charge of the last seven regular season games and all four playoff games with an 8-3 record.

"Through the previous season, Raden has continuously deepened understanding of the team and earned trust from the players. After close contact with him during the offseason, the club has decided to appoint him head coach to lead the Beijing Ducks for the new CBA season," the club said in a statement.

The Beijing Ducks is about to gather for summer training, and Raden will also return to China soon to lead the team in preparation.
