The latest round of the National Figure Staking Grade Test 2023/24 drew to a close on June 2 at the National Aquatics Center in Beijing. During the eight-day event, a total of 2,432 athletes from across the country gathered at the venue and participated in level-testing programs involving footwork, free skating, and ice dance.

This is the first national-level event held at the dual-Olympic venue's underground Ice Sports Center since the facility opened to the public on Aug. 1, 2022.

To provide top-class sporting services, the National Aquatics Center has made full use of its Winter Olympic legacy and made adequate preparations by optimizing guest flow and game-time schedules. It has also set up separate areas for participants to take breaks, do warm-up exercises, and have light meals.

The venue also surprised participants with a variety of themed souvenirs, licensed merchandise, and tabletop curling games. Participants could visit the National Aquatics Center's main venue with a free ticket after completing the grade-testing event.

Located 11 meters underground at the National Aquatics Center's south square, the Ice Sports Center encompasses a 1,830sqm standard ice rink and a standard four-track curling rink, with overall operations covering 8,000sqm.

In February 2022, the venue built a strategic partnership with the World Curling Federation (WCF) to establish China's first World Curling Academy Training Center (WCATC) at the Ice Sports Center.

The center was also selected as one of the 30 "Beijing Off-Campus Ice and Snow Activity Centers for Youth" this January in a bid to further boost ice and snow sports among teenagers and create more off-campus sports facilities.

As a legacy of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, the center has been striving to promote Winter Olympic culture, popularize curling sports, offer public fitness programs, provide ice sports training sessions, host high-level competitions, organize tourism events, and stage cultural performances.
