Real Madrid confirmed the signing of England international midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday on a six-year contract worth an initial 103 million euros.

Although Borussia Dortmund had confirmed the sale in a statement last week, Real Madrid didn't make the deal public until publishing a statement on the club website.

"Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of the player Jude Bellingham, who will remain linked to our club for the next six seasons," read the statement.

"Tomorrow, Thursday, 15 June, at 12pm at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Jude Bellingham as a new Real Madrid player will take place. Afterward, Jude Bellingham will appear before the media," said the statement.

The 19-year-old Bellingham began his career with Birmingham City, but spent the past three years in Dortmund, making 132 appearances for the club who agonizingly missed out the Bundesliga title on the last day of last season.

"Thank you to everyone at BVB and to the fans for everything over the past three years. It's been an honor to wear your jersey so many times, in big and small moments. Even though I look forward to my next destination, I will never forget the journey there. Once Borussia always Borussia. All the best for the future," wrote Bellingham in a message on the Borussia Dortmund website.

Bellingham is Real Madrid's third signing of the summer after left back Fran Garcia from Rayo Vallecano and the return of Brahim Diaz after three years on loan at AC Milan.
