Mongolian judokas have been ramping up their preparations and looking forward to competing in the upcoming 19th Asian Games in China's Hangzhou, as they are aiming for gold medals.

"Our national judo team is ready to go to Hangzhou with a total of 15 judokas. All preparations for the Asian Games have been essentially completed," Chimed-Yondon Boldbaatar, coach of Mongolia's national judo team, told Xinhua in a recent interview.

"I am going to Hangzhou for the first time. But I have been to China many times before to participate in competitions," Boldbaatar said.

In general, China organizes international competitions at a very high level and welcomes athletes very well, he said, expressing his confidence that the Hangzhou Asian Games will be held successfully.

Mongolia's national judo team had previously won a maximum of two gold medals at a single Asian Games, Boldbaatar said, stressing that the goal this time was to win at least two gold medals, and if possible, to win three or more.

Lkhagvatogoo Enkhriilen is now training hard to participate in the Asian Games for the first time, as the 24-year-old judoka is expected to compete in the women's 57kg category in Hangzhou.

"The Asian Games is the continent's largest sporting event. I have been training hard to win a gold medal for my country," she said.

The Hangzhou tournament is the second Asian Games for Tsend-Ochir Tsogtbaatar, who is the world champion and Olympic bronze medalist.

"I previously participated in the 2018 Asian Games, but I could not win any medals then," Tsogtbaatar said. "But now I am training hard with the goal of winning gold in the 73kg category at the upcoming Asian Games."

The 27-year-old judoka has never been to Hangzhou before, though he has participated in competitions in other cities like Qingdao and Hohhot.

"I have very good impressions and good memories about previous events in China, especially with the campus for the athletes," he said, expressing high hopes for the Hangzhou event.

Yondonperenlei Baskhuu is the world two-time bronze medalist.

"I am going to participate in the Asian Games for the first time. I will compete in the 66-kg category at the forthcoming Asian Games," he said.

"My preparation for the Asian Games is very good. I want to be champion," the 29-year-old said. "I have great expectations that this Asian Games will be beautiful."

The 19th Asian Games will take place in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province from September 23 to October 8.

The Hangzhou tournament will be the third Asian Games held in China, after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.

Mongolia will field more than 400 athletes at Hangzhou across 34 different sports, according to the Mongolian National Olympic Committee.
