China's swimming team sustained their remarkable performance at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Sept. 28, securing five more gold medals.

The team achieved victories in the women's 50m freestyle, women's 200m breaststroke, men's 200m breaststroke, and two relay events, elevating their total gold medal count to 24. This accomplishment matches China's historic best at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

Zhang Yufei won the gold medal in the women's 50m freestyle, establishing a new Asian Games record with a time of 24.26 seconds.

She commented that, although she gave her best effort, her performance slightly fell short of expectations. She intends to review her performance meticulously and refine her technique during winter training, laying a strong foundation for Paris 2024.

When asked about her peak performance, Ye replied, "I don't think I've reached my peak, but I also don't have a set idea of what my 'peak' is. I might have considered my 2012 form as my peak, but now, I believe I can achieve even more."

Qin Haiyang, the world record holder for the men's 200m breaststroke, clinched the gold medal at the Asian Games with a time of 2 minutes and 7.03 seconds, setting a new Asian Games record. Although Qin had aspired to finish under 2:07, he was content with his performance. He plans to persist in his training and participate in international competitions to acclimate to varying time zones and conditions, setting his sights on triumph at Paris 2024.

In the relay events held later that evening, the Chinese team dominated, claiming all the gold medals. The men's 4x100m freestyle relay team, featuring Pan Zhanle, Chen Jun'er, Hong Jinquan, and Wang Haoyu, shattered the Asian record, clocking in at 3 minutes and 10.88 seconds to claim the gold medal. Pan Zhanle acknowledged that clinching the gold was anticipated as they had confidence in their capabilities from the beginning.
