Fabio Miretti's early strike helped Juventus carve out three points in Serie A as the Old Lady beat Fiorentina 1-0 away on Sunday, with Wojciech Szczesny providing a series of result-saving saves.

The injury crisis was taking its toll on Juve with Federico Chiesa starting against his old club, while Fiorentina, who had suffered back-to-back domestic defeats, had to do without Michael Kayode and Gaetano Castrovilli.

The away side went ahead just nine minutes into the game when Filip Kostic burst down the left side and rolled across for Miretti to tap in from close range.

However, the Bianconeri were largely outclassed after that as the Viola churned out a large number of shots but Szczesny performed well to keep the scoreline down.

With the win, Juve enhanced their second place with 26 points, four points ahead of AC Milan, and two shy of leaders Inter Milan.

Also on Sunday, a pair of strikes in stoppage time saw Roma turn around Lecce 2-1 on home turf.

Romelu Lukaku should have scored the opening goal in the 5th minute but the Chelsea loanee's penalty was parried away by the goalkeeper.

Lecce broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when Pontus Almqvist finished with a first-time low strike.

The Giallorossi completed the turnaround in the dying minutes when Sardar Azmoun steered his header into the net on Nicola Zalewski's assist, before Lukaku atoned for his error by placing in a left-footed strike to seal the win.

Elsewhere, Monza sailed away with a 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona; Cagliari conquered Genoa 2-1.
