Liverpool were held 0-0 by Manchester United at home in the Premier League on Sunday, despite peppering the goal of their under-pressure visitors for almost 90 minutes.

Liverpool had 34 shots, compared with just six from United, but were unable to beat the much-criticized Andre Onana in the visitors' goal, and the point will help United coach Erik ten Hag, whose side suffered a painful exit from Europe during the week.

Liverpool's draw allowed Arsenal to leapfrog them and return to the top of the Premier League after they beat Brighton 2-0 with goals from Gabriel Jesus, who netted a cushioned header in the 53rd minute, and Kai Havertz, who sealed the win with a smart finish late on after a smart team move.

Arsenal are now unbeaten in their last 13 home games.

Visiting Aston Villa came back from a goal down to beat Brentford 2-1. Former Hull City forward Keane Lewis-Potter opened the scoring for Brentford on the stroke of halftime, but after Ben Mee was sent off, Alex Moreno leveled for Villa with 13 minutes to play.

Ollie Watkins put Villa ahead in the 85th minute, before the visitors' Boubacar Kamara was also shown a red card in a frantic finish to the game.

West Ham United enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Wolves with two first-half goals from Mohammed Kudus, both of which came from assists from Lucas Paqueta, who also set up Jarrod Bowen for a 74th-minute third.

The main drama this weekend took place on Saturday when the match between Bournemouth and Luton was suspended halfway through the second half with the score at 1-1, after Luton defender and captain Tom Lockyer collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Lockyer received attention from paramedics on the pitch and was taken to hospital where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

Manchester City surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at home to Crystal Palace. Goals from Jack Grealish and Rico Lewis had put City in control, but Jean-Philippe Mateta gave Palace hope when he slid home with 15 minutes left to play, and Michael Olise kept his calm to make it 2-2 from the penalty spot in the 95th minute after a rash Phil Foden challenge.

Second-half goals from Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson gave Chelsea a relatively comfortable win at home to Shefield United after the bottom side had defended well before the break.

Newcastle United prevailed 3-0 at home to Fulham with second half strikes from Lewis Miley, Miguel Almiron and Dan Burn, after Fulham striker Raul Jimenez was sent off for a wild challenge midway through the first half.

Coach Sean Dyche received an ovation from Burnley fans as he returned to his former club with Everton, and his current side took the points with first-half strikes from Amadou Onana and Michael Keane.

On Friday night, Tottenham Hotspur won 2-0 away to Nottingham Forest with Dejan Kulusevski assisting Richarlison for Spurs' opener on the stroke of halftime, and scoring the second himself in the 65th minute.

Spurs then defended for 20 minutes with 10 men after Yves Bissouma was shown a direct red card for bad challenge.
